Grand Lodge - Bar Trellis
Gaylord Rockies - Aurora, CO
2024
This thing is every bit as heavy as it looks. Fabricated in TN and shipped in pieces to CO as part of the Grand Lodge renovations at Gaylord Rockies in 2024. The finish wouldn’t allow for any field welding so the whole thing is designed with engineered bolted connections. We even tried to hide them, you can only see a few in these pictures. In the end, we had to install the trellis before the main slabs were poured inside. The blackened finish didn’t keep the steel from rusting and it had to be refinished in the field anyway, meaning it could’ve just been welded in the first place. Such is construction.
Also shown below are two more scopes we drew on this job: the glass railing at the monumental stair and the I-beam structure at the window wall that holds the shade mechanisms to cover that humongous window.
